Humboldt Forum in the Berlin Palace (DE) A Project of H | KBFUS Funds
The Humboldt Forum in the Berlin Palace will be a vibrant setting reflecting the tensions of the past as well as the future, tensions that also arise from the Baroque facade's interplay with the building's modern contents. The Humboldt Forum will offer a platform for the most diverse topics, embracing culture, the sciences, politics and the economy. It is intended to be a place that brings people together and acts upon the stimulus provided by society.
In the spirit of the Humboldt brothers' ideals, the forum will provide inspiration for a holistic answer to the global issues we face in the twenty-first century.
The Foundation for the Humboldt Forum in the Berlin Palace is a not-for-profit organization, that is the commissioning body for the building of the Humboldt Forum within the facades of the Berlin Palace. In 2007 the German parliament voted with a substantial majority to rebuild three of the facades and the Schlüterhof courtyard in a historically authentic style. The cost for reconstructing the Baroque facades amounts to € 105 million ($111 million) – a sum being raised by means of private donations.
