Solar Power Means Empowerment
Your donation has the power to spread sustainable light
Little Sun Foundation (GE) A Project of L | KBFUS Funds
The Little Sun Foundation is a German-based non-for-profit, founded by the artist Olafur Eliasson. We give people access to clean solar energy that are affected by natural disasters, war and extreme poverty and would otherwise live in darkness. We raise awareness on the health and safety risks of kerosene and implement education projects that foster climate literacy among children worldwide. Our vision is to empower those with clean energy that need it the most. With your help, children can study with clean light and gain knowledge about why the future of our planet depends on renewable energies. Giving solar power to refugees and students has positive effects on education, health and safety.
Worldwide, 1.2 billion people have no access to energy. Refugees and children living in regions off the grid are the most disadvantaged. Without light they cannot study after dark and are afraid to leave their homes or shelters. Kerosene as lighting is very expensive and creates toxic fumes that cause lung and eye diseases. Solar brings light, hope and empowerment to refugees and those without energy access. Education is the foundation of a brighter future. We align our overall aims with the Sustainable Development Goals as outlined by the UN, mainly energy access, better education, health and eradicating poverty
Our mission is:
- to reduce the number of people living without access to energy
- to improve living conditions of refugees and students by providing them with high quality solar products
- to improve education about renewable energies
- to promote action against climate change
Giving solar light to children who live without reliable access to electricity gives them a vital tool for studying after dark. In this way, solar light improves children's chances of completing their education. Giving solar energy to people in refugee camps improves their health, safety, and well-being and allows them to charge their phones for improved communication. With a simple donation of 30 USD we can provide a child or refugee with a solar light that lasts for 5 years, supporting a brighter future.
