Help us ensure justice for women and communities affected by armed conflict
Women's Initiatives for Gender Justice A Project of G | KBFUS Funds
The Women's Initiatives for Gender Justice is an international women's human rights organization that works globally to ensure justice for women and communities affected by armed conflict and mass crimes.
We work with local grassroots partners in armed conflict situations to support domestic prosecutions for sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) as well as programs which provide: medical and psychosocial support to SGBV victims/survivors; mediation, family reunification programs and skills-building workshops for women and girls abducted by armed militias groups to support their recovery and reintegration into their families, clans and communities; advocacy with decision-makers to prevent ongoing violence and promote women's human rights; community healing and reconciliation programs; and documenting the commission of sexual violence for the purposes of prosecutions.
In the last four years alone we have assisted over 127,000 women and children in armed conflicts.
We are recognized as one of the leading voices on gender justice before the International Criminal Court (ICC) where we were the first NGO to file before the ICC calling for the prosecution of SGBV. We were also the only women's rights organization recognized by the ICC judges to appear in the first public hearing ever held on reparations in international criminal proceedings.
